You only need to meet Uche once and you cannot forget him. The first time I attended Christ The King Anglican Church, his presence in the service exuded confidence that was infectious. WIth time I got to know him as a person who walked his talk and talked his walk. You were not in doubt about his position on issues. Most impressive was his willingness to pivot from his position to back new ideas once he is fully convinced. He was a major pillar of CKC. Uche's presence alone with his family formed a "quorum". To say we will miss him at CKC is a gross understatement. We will find solace in Psalm 116:15 which says "Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints." Uche just transited from A saint militant to a saint triumphant, now cheering us to run our race well and finish well. Dear brotherat the resurrection we would see you playing your usual role of selfless service to the congregation. Till then, rest in perfect peace.... Collapse

Man like Igwe Gerald Uchenna. How does one express the amazing essence and spirit of such a friend, his selfless generosity, uncompromising belief in all that is good, and unwavering commitment to family and friends? Even the best of words, cannot totally capture the sense of loss that we feel in TGF. The loss is there–tangible and real within everyone of us. "Today, I remember the bright smile and kind heart of Gerald, a very dear friend who left an indelible mark on my life. His unexpected passing leaves me with tears and sorrow, but also with cherished memories of his unwavering support and compassion. The last time we spoke, you sensed I was depressed. You cautioned and rebuked me to get off that mood. You consistently threatened that you'd come look for me even if you didn't find me in Nigeria anymore. Where can you find me now, Gee? Gerald was more than just a classmate; he was a true friend, a brother and even a present help to widows and single mums with no strings attached, who showed up in times of need, offering a listening ear, comforting words and lending hands. His selflessness and kindness inspired everyone connected to him to be better versions of themselves. He was so many facets to so many people just as their peculiarities were. He was simply amazing! Though his time with us is cut short, his legacy lives on in our hearts. I will deeply miss you, but I take comfort in the knowledge that your spirit will continue to inspire me, all of us, to be kind, empathetic, and generous. Rest in peace, my dear Gerald. Your memory will continually be a blessing to me. And knowing you had this smile on your lips even in death, is a consolation. I feel there's so much to say to you, but I rest it as my aching heart keeps on pondering why you and why now. May your memory continually be a blessing to us all who knew him. Love you, Gee! Barr. TRIBUTE TO A GOOD HEART AND BEAUTIFUL SOUL UCHE IGWE "Precious in the sight of God is the death of His Saints" Ps. 116:15 Who are the saints? Simply put, those that represented God here on earth throughout their sojourn no matter how long or seemingly short as the case may be. They're those who influenced others positively, put smiles in the faces of the depressed, lifted the downtrodden, gave succour to the oppressed, spread love abroad, and above all held unto the tenets of true Christian life till their last breath. My dear Uche though our paths didn't cross here on earth, your testimonials on the lips of those you interacted with both family and friends are so loud and they're so heartbroken by your demise. On that premise, I posit that you were an embodiment of the virtues enumerated above, which indicates who is a saint. Sequel to the above assertion, I pray God to let His Angels herald your home to your mansion in His kingdom. May God grant you your crown of victory decorated with stars. May God grant divine consolation and fortitude to you my dear Dr. Chioma, your siblings, and the entire Igwe family. May Uche's Soul rest in the loving bosom of our great God Almighty in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen. It is well.... Collapse

On June 8, 2024, we lost not just a friend, but a brother, a mentor, a pillar of strength, and a shining example of selflessness and a rugged Buccaneer. Uche’s sudden death has left us speechless and created a void in our hearts that words can scarcely begin to fill. In this moment of profound grief, we gather our thoughts to pay tribute to a man who was a blessing to so many. Uche was more than just a fraternity brother; he embodied kindness and generosity. From the very first moment we met, his warmth and genuine concern for others were unmistakable. He was very relatable and had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel valued, loved, and supported. He was a straight shooter and you always knew where you stood with him. He went out of his way to treat people right no matter what. His life was a testament to the power of selflessness. To Vivian, Uche’s wife, you shared your life with a man of remarkable character and boundless love. His devotion to you and the children was evident in his actions. His memory will forever be a guiding light, and his love will continue to envelop you, offering comfort and strength in the difficult days ahead. To Chisom and Osinachi, your Dad was a hero in the truest sense. He was a man who prioritized others above himself, always ready to lend a hand or a listening ear. His teachings and his love will remain with you, guiding you and inspiring you to carry forward his legacy of kindness and selflessness. To his beloved mother, who nurtured and raised such an extraordinary individual, please take solace in knowing that Uche’s legacy of kindness and compassion lives on in the countless lives he touched all over the world. Your son was a beacon of hope and a source of unwavering support to many. His spirit and the lessons he imparted will continue to resonate deeply with us all. To Uche’s siblings, extended family, and friends, we share in your sorrow and in the profound sense of loss. Let us remember the moments of joy, the laughter, and the countless ways he made our lives better. Uche’s spirit was one of unwavering support and unyielding friendship. He was always there for others, ready to help without hesitation, embodying the very essence of brotherhood and community. As we navigate through this difficult time, let us hold on to the beautiful memories we each created with Uche. Let us honor him by continuing to extend the same kindness, love, and support that he so generously gave to each of us. In doing so, we ensure that his spirit lives on, influencing our actions and our hearts. Uche, you were a friend like no other. Your legacy is one of love, compassion, and selfless service. While we grapple with the shock and pain of your sudden departure, we find comfort in the knowledge that your impact on our lives is everlasting. Your light will never dim, and your memory will continue to inspire and guide us. The Buccaneers Confraternity has lost a rare gem. Sail on mi rugged Scarlet. Rest in peace, dear broda. Tribute to Yg Gerald I would have made a video tribute but..... The name [Bijay] which i adopted as nickname was given by Gerald. It comes from my name; Obiajulu. Yg as we fondly called him. I think i'm the only one who knows the meaning. He also calls me obembe. Yg was a friend like a brother. He was a friend turned brother. A lot of gimmicks even by teachers to spoil this friendship, only made it stronger. I cant pen it all here for space. When i heard this painful news, i so much wished for a miracle to bring him back. Some how, i'm still hoping on one. When Chioma said to me; that even after 4hours of his passing, he still had this smile and somewhat calmness in his face, i knew this brother was in God's bosom; which is best. I dont mourn where you are. I mourn the fact that we wont yab ourselves again, share prayers and those advise and hopeful comfort you present. Yg; my guy; my brother, you will be sooooo missed. I didn't get to know you that much on a personal level but I had a first hand information about your amiable personality from your younger sister (Dr Victoria) whose judgement or impression about most things are faultless. Through this lens, I can see that your death is irreplaceable and thus, a vacuum has been created. Death as a mystery can't fill this vacuum, hence I pray that your entire family and friends alike should have the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
